Planting at Gateway Green (Postponed)

POSTPONED

This event has been postponed, due to weather, and rescheduled.

Saturday, February 24, 2018, 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Monday, February 19, 2018, 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Like getting your hands dirty? Join us on President’s Day for a planting work party at Gateway Green. We’ll meet by the storage containers in the center of the park at 1:00 pm and finish up around 3:00 pm.

We have at least 200 native plant seedlings to plant in the wooded area.

The plants are small and the ground is soft, so it will NOT involve a lot of digging. Getting the seedlings in the ground now will give them a chance to establish roots before the dry season.

Friends of Gateway Green (FoGG) will provide gloves, snacks, and some tools. Portland Bureau of Environmental Services will provide the plants and guidance on where to plant them. Portland Parks will provide water and additional tools.

It’s important that you dress for the weather, wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Please bring a filled water bottle with you.

Registration is not required, but letting us know that you plan to be there will help us gauge how many tools and snacks to bring. Send an email to info@gatewaygreenpdx.org.
