Gathering at Gateway Green Recap

Sunny with temperatures in the nineties, more mountain bikes than you’ve ever seen, and more than 1,000 people coming together for the Gathering at Gateway Green presented by TriMet. There was delicious food, musical entertainment, and activities for everyone! It was an incredible celebration of the opening of Dirt Lab; you could feel the excitement from the kids and adults alike.

The delicious food and cold treats were a crowd favorite, as well as the beer garden which was going strong long after most of the attendees had gone. There was a constant flow of riders on the trails and more than a few braving the jumps. The adorable clowns and puppet show were popular with the kids, while some little ones took on the pump track and skills course too. Overall, the day was a huge success, and we thank everyone for coming out and celebrating with us!

We want to thank our sponsors again, for making this event possible. To TriMet, Greenworks, East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District, and PBSEngineering & Environment, thank you immensely for your support! To the partners in planning this event, Friends of Gateway Green, Northwest Trail Alliance, Northwest Outward Bound School, and Lumberyard, the event would not have happened without you! And to the community leaders and members who have been working on this project tirelessly since the beginning, we owe it all to you guys.

The park is now open daily, from daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, except on Friday when it’s closed in the early morning for maintenance, opining at 10:30 am. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities to help keep the park and trails in great condition so everyone can enjoy them!
