Tom has been riding bikes as long as he can remember starting with his  first Schwinn Spyder -  road bikes, cruisers, mountain bikes - and just about everything in between.  He enjoys riding on the dirt more than anything else.  Tom spent several years building trails of different sorts in the forests of Washington, Oregon and California as a way to pay for college.  He has lived in Portland since 1989 and is a partner in a local engineering and environmental consulting firm.  Tom has real passion for exploring ways in which we can lessen our impact on the planet.  And he truly believe bicycles can be part of the solution.  Bicycles can play a significant role in people’s daily lives – for fun and for more practical reasons.  Mountain biking is a way to (re)introduce people to bikes, whether they’re 5 or 95, and he's excited about the role that Gateway Green could play in that transformation.
